  • Passengers must be between 15 and 60 years old, not pregnant, not in charge of small children, and possess the necessary physical, auditory, visual, and cognitive abilities to manage emergency exits and follow crew instructions. They must also understand instructions in Portuguese or English (for LATAM Airlines Brasil flights) or Spanish or English (for other LATAM flights).

  • Instant Upgrade: Purchase this type of upgrade from 45 days up to 12 hours before your flight. This is done through the "My Trips" section by selecting "Bid for Cabin Upgrade" and then "Instant Upgrade." The charge is immediate and non-refundable.

LATAM Airlines Change Flight policy

  • Passengers can modify their flight dates or destinations, provided their ticket fare conditions permit such changes.
  • The cost to change a flight may include: A change fee, depending on the fare type. Any difference in fare between the original and new flight. These details can be reviewed in the “Ticket Change” section under My Trips.
  • Changes can be made up to 1 hour and 40 minutes before the scheduled departure for both domestic and international flights.

  • The maximum weight of checked baggage allowed is each checked baggage item must weigh no more than 23 kg (51 lb), per passenger. 
  • Each checked baggage item must be no more than 158 linear cm (62.2 in), adding height + length + width. 
  • Fare cabins that include checked baggage are Standard (Economy cabin), Full (Economy cabin) Premium Economy (Premium Economy cabin) and Premium Business allows 2 checked baggage. 
  • Fares that do not include checked baggage are Basic and Light fare in (Economy cabin). 

Excess or Oversize Baggage: 

  • Each checked bag can weigh up to 45 kg (99.2 lbs) and have maximum dimensions of 300 linear cm (118.1 in).
  • If your baggage exceeds the standard weight or size limits, you'll incur extra charges, which vary based on factors like route, season, and timing of purchase.
  • Items such as sports equipment, musical instruments, televisions, or monitors are considered special baggage. These can weigh up to 45 kg (99.2 lbs) per piece and have dimensions up to 300 linear cm (118.1 in).

LATAM Airlines Check-in Information

If you bought a national flight directly from LATAM website and it is operated by LATAM, then you can do the check-in automatically and your boarding pass will be available in My Trips or in the app 48 hours before your flight. If you are traveling with only a carry-on bag, you can board directly. If you travel with checked baggage, label your suitcases in our self service kiosks and go to our counter to check them. You can check-in 48 hours before and up to 2 hours before your first departure flight. If passengers prefer to check in at the airport, LATAM offers counter check-in services. Check-in times vary by route, but passengers are advised to arrive at least 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours for domestic flights.

LATAM Airlines Unaccompanied minor Policy 

  • Children 0 to 7 years old must travel accompanied by an adult over 18 years old or an emancipated teenager. The UM service is generally not available for this age group.
  • Children 8 years old until the day before turning 12 years old must travel with an adult over 18 years old or an emancipated teenager. If they travel alone, the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service is mandatory.
  • Teenagers 12 years old until the day before turning 18 years old may travel alone by presenting the required documentation for the relevant country. The Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service is optional for this age group.
  • The UM service can generally be purchased for direct flights (no connection) operated solely by LATAM.
  • For teenagers (12-17 years old) opting for the UM service on connecting flights, the flights must be 100% LATAM, the connecting flight cannot be the last flight of the day (unless it's the only flight of the day), and connections cannot exceed 4 hours at the same airport. All flights must be under the same reservation code.
